This incredibly handsome boy is Zico. He is just over three years old and is currently in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Zico is now ready to make the move from his place in residential training and is looking for his forever home, one that can give him the love and patience he needs so much. Zico is also available to be fostered (see our dedicated foster page).
Zico was originally adopted from us by a family in Saudi Arabia and was a happy, friendly, outgoing dog. His family then moved to Dubai and things rapidly changed for poor Zico. He developed a fear and nervousness around men, he became withdrawn, was scared of cars or vehicles in general, he stopped wanting to go for walks. Our rescue back up came into play and we brought him to Scotland.
When Zico arrived in Scotland he was placed in long term boarding with Zowie and Sean at Drums of Park Kennels. Their patience and understanding gave Zico a chance to show what a fabulous boy he was before, and still can be.
Zico's next chapter has already begun. He has been in a residential training programme at Garromuir Kennels in Aberdeenshire and this is what his trainer has top say about him now:
"Zico is a Saluki/Labrador cross 3 years old
He was brought to Scotland from Saudi Arabia by the Charity Sand to Sofa. Although Zico has not had an ideal start in life his good nature has endured. Following on from a brief behavioural program, he is now ready for his forever home.
Zico is an alert, affectionate, happy dog who is reasonably competent with basic obedience disciplines. He mixes well with people and other dogs. Zico's new owners would need to be competent leaders who are able to primarily demonstrate dominant, but never harsh, control."
There would be support and advice available afterwards from Garromuir should it be required.
We would be looking to place Zico in an adults only and pet free home at this stage of his rehabilitation.
