Please read the information below along with the Pre Application Information page before submitting an application form
The first step is to contact us to establish if the dog or cat you are interested in would be a match. WhatsApp Nadia on +447774804254 or Steve on +447359833660 or email sandtosofa@gmail.com or contact us by Facebook Messenger
A successful match with a dog or cat is then followed by completion of an adoption application form available here on the website.
If the application is successful it is followed by a home visit carried out by a Sand To Sofa volunteer.
On successful completion of the home visit and approval of the adoption, an adoption donation fee is payable, usually in two parts. 50% as a deposit and the remaining 50% when the dog has a booking confirmation on a flight to Glasgow. If it is close to the time when the dog is due to fly, the full payment may be requested. See our Adoption Donations page for full details. If adopting more than one dog at the same time (e.g. a bonded pair) a reduction in the total fee may be available. Some dogs or cats may already have arrived and be in foster homes or kennels in Scotland.
All fees for each stage become non-refundable once paid. This is due to the export/import process having been started and costs of this being met.
If it's not a dog or cat that's already in foster in Scotland, they are then flown in for collection at Glasgow Airport or there is a collection option near our Aberdeenshire HQ for those in the north of Scotland.
If after accepting the dog or cat you decide that you want to relinquish it for any reason within the first ten days, we will arrange for the dog or cat to be collected and returned to our care. After ten days it would be your responsibility to return it to our address in Aberdeenshire.
All dogs come neutered, fully vaccinated (including rabies), brucellosis tested, microchipped and passported.
Cats come neutered and vaccinated.
Currently Sand To Sofa can only rehome dogs and cats within Scotland due to limitations on rescue back up. Our huskies and some large breed dogs may be rehomed in other areas and potentially worldwide should the right home and back up be available.
